Joyce Anderson, CIH 
joined the Rocky Mountain Education Center in 1994.  She has nearly 30 years of experience in the fields of industrial hygiene,  ergonomics, safety, occupational health and safety management systems and OSHA.  Her background includes 11 years as a compliance officer with USDOL–OSHA.  Currently, Ms. Anderson works as a consultant with Compliance Specialties,  Inc., a safety and health consulting and training firm that she founded in  1994. She a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health from Colorado State  University and is an active Certified Industrial Hygienist.  

Jim Arendas is the Environmental Safety and Health Director for  the Construction Advancement Foundation. He brings over 35 years of experience  to the RMEC. Mr. Arendas holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety  Management from Indiana State University and a Master’s degree in Public and  Environmental Affairs from Indiana University Northwest. 

Shawn Armstrong has 21 years in the fire service including seven years as a Hazardous Materials Technician on the busiest Haz-Mat rig in the country.  Mr. Armstrong has been an instructor for the RMEC since 2000.  Shawn brings real world experiences to the classroom showing students problems that can be encountered in the workplace and how to solve those problems. He also holds an A.S. in Fire Science.

Dustin Austin is a Safety Consultant and Instructor for the North Dakota Safety  Council, a private non-profit safety  organization. With 15 years of safety experience, he recently served as an EHS Director in the  Bakken Field. As the former Chairperson and founding member of the MonDaks Safety Network,  an association for Safety Professionals in the Oil and Gas Industry, Dustin was a key  organizer for the North Dakota Stand Down for Oil and Gas as well as the National Stand  Down for Oil and Gas. His recent experience in the industry provides up to date  information on this rapidly changing industry.

Cynthia E. Braun, CSP, CET, CHMMis the owner of Braun Safety  Associates, LLC (BSA), known nationwide for its exceptional occupational health  and safety consulting and training services. BSA specializes in management  system audits, mock OSHA inspections, policy/program development, accident  investigation, loss control audits, committee development, tailgate talks, and  Learning Management System (LMS) development. BSA provides services for a wide  range of industries across the U.S. Ms. Braun received the ASSE Women in Safety  Engineering (WISE) award titled “WISE – 100 Women Making a Difference.” As an  honoree of this award, she was included in a historic book published by the  ASSE highlighting all 100 women.

Troy Bridges, is an experienced safety professional and educator with over 15  years of experience in a variety of industries.   He has worked for large corporate conglomerates as well as small  family-owned businesses, he has even worked for himself as an independent  consultant.  Troy has an A.S. in Environmental  Health and Occupational Safety, a B>S. in Workforce Education and Development  and an M.S. in Organizational Leadership with and emphasis in Instructional  Design and Training.

Agnes Talamantez Carroll is a bilingual trainer and has  over 13 years’ experience as an OSHA Outreach Trainer in the Construction  Industry at RMEC. She has experience in vertical and horizontal construction  and has done work for major projects such as TREX, and the Denver Transit  Partners training partners and constructors in OSHA 10, 30 and Hazwoper  classes. Additionally, she has worked in Safety and Health in the Renewable  Energy industry developing curriculum and training. She also has been has been  an instructor of business conversational Spanish at RMEC 2001, including  construction Spanish.

Phil Currance has more than 36 years of  firefighter, hazardous materials response, paramedic and hazardous materials  emergency response training/consulting experience. Phil has worked as an Adjunct  Instructor with the Community College System of Colorado since 1986. He also  served for 15 years with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the  Department of Homeland Security as the deputy commander of the Colorado  Disaster Medical Assistance Team and  the U.S. National Medical Response Team for Weapons of Mass Destruction -  Central Taskforce. He currently is the owner of a consulting firm that specializes  in Emergency Preparedness for Heath Care organizations.

Dorys DeMiranda is the owner of OSHA Spanish Training Centre L.L.C. and is the OSHA pioneer to South America Countries.  For over 6 years Dorys has been an authorized OSHA Trainer for Construction and General Industry and has taught over 1,000 business people from countries such as Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Peru and Ecuador.  Dorys also translated the RMEC 10- and 30-Hour Construction Training Materials into Spanish.  Ms. DeMiranda earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and has 15 years experience in the construction field.

Jolene Donahue, ASP,owner and lead consultant at  The OSHA Connection, LLC, works in both the Private and Public Sector and  promotes OSHA compliance while substantially reducing workers’ compensation  injuries and costs. As an instructor at OSHA’s Region VIII training center, an  OSHA Outreach Trainer, Consultant and Certified Safety and Health Specialist,  she brings a unique balance of fun and hands-on, actual experience to her  clients that make regulatory compliance easy. Strategic preparation and  implementation makes a safe culture a reality and her tools and tips will send  your workers' compensation costs spiraling down.

Bob Easter is President of A.R. Easter, Inc., which he founded in 1983.  Extensive field experience in the mining and  petroleum industries, both upstream and downstream, has been acquired as an  on-site technical consultant/construction supervisor, or both.  As an independent contractor he has developed  many OSHA regulatory compliance programs for operators, both large and small,  in various industries.  He has a Bachelor’s  and Master’s degrees in Biology and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science.  He has earned the designation “Distinguished Toastmaster” from the Toastmasters  International.

George B. Flynn, MS, CIH is the owner of OSHAssist, LLC, a consulting firm providing comprehensive Occupational  Safety and Health compliance assistance services. For 30 years he worked for the Occupational  Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in a variety of positions, including; Senior  Industrial Hygiene Compliance Officer, Compliance Assistance Specialist and Assistant Area  Director. George is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) with a Master of Science degree in  Environmental Sciences.

John Freyling is the owner and  principle of Advanced Safety Consulting, LTD. John has over 16 years’  experience in occupational safety and health. In the years applying his  expertise he has experience inseveral industries such as construction,  retail, medical, general industry with his major emphases in the Oil & Gas  and Mining sector. John has served as a committee member for such organizations  as the Weld County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and was one of the  various pioneers of Occupational Safety systems in the Oil & Gas sector for  a number of Oil & Gas operators on Colorado’s Front Range.

David Glabe, PE is President of Glabe  Consulting Services, Inc., a company he founded in 1985. The company provides  training and litigation services in the areas of temporary structures,  construction, fall protection, shoring, forming and OSHA safety. Mr. Glabe has  been an instructor for Federal OSHA, state OSHAs and has developed and  conducted numerous training and skill evaluation programs for the construction  industry. In addition to consulting engineering and training, he also serves as  an expert witness in construction related matters. Mr. Glabe attended  Valparaiso University in Indiana, where he received a Bachelor of Science  degree in Civil Engineering. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in numerous  states.

Tom Gore has twenty years of EHS management and training experience and has been an instructor at RMEC since 2005. He has a regulatory background and work experience on Superfund sites and emergency responses. Tom has authored several instructional and regulatory field guides, including for Montana DEQ & WYDOT. His construction site photography graces many industry manuals, and handbooks.

Ed Hegwood has been in the commercial/industrial Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) field for 43 years, the last 20 years as an HVAC systems specialist. An extensive industry education in HVAC related subjects was earned in service management positions both with Trane and Carrier.  Ed has also worked in both technical and management positions for several highly successfully independent service contractor organizations. Ed served on numerous industry committees: chairperson of the Science Advisory Board on ozone depleting compounds for the City and County of Denver, the steering committee for the Colorado State Board of Health Air Pollution Control Division, and the ADHOC refrigeration code committee to the City and County of Denver. He has designed and implemented over a 700 operation and maintenance plans for commercial buildings in the US. Ed has been involved in energy efficiency studies in commercial buildings since the early 1980’s and has participated in or managed more than 400 projects. Ed is the instructor of record for the Commercial Building Energy Coach Program at Red Rocks Community College/The Learning Source and teaches advanced classes in Green HVAC.

Gary Lietz Ed.D., CSP 
has more than 27 years of  experience working for the U.S. Department of Energy in occupational safety and  technical training. He has multiple degrees in Education, Occupational Safety  and an Ed.D. in Safety Education. In addition, Gary is an adjunct professor of  Occupational Safety at Colorado State University and committee member of ANSI  Z490.1 Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health and Environmental  Training.

Brian Maria, MS, CSP has  more than 20 years of construction safety and health experience. Mr. Maria has  worked on large OCIP projects such as DIA, E-470 and Fitzsimons Medical Campus.  Brian has also worked on DOE projects located at Rocky Flats, Hanford and the  Nevada Test Site. Currently, he is working as a Safety Manager for a Mid-Size  construction company that focuses on General Construction, Refrigeration and  Concrete projects.

Joe McFadden, BA, MT, CHSP is the President & Owner of  McFadden & Associates, LLC, consultants in Safety, Health, and Industrial  Hygiene. He has 34 years of experience in safety, health, industrial hygiene,  and toxicology in the areas of healthcare, general industry, and the  construction industry. Joe has been a trainer at the Rocky Mountain Education  Center OSHA Training Institute for 22 years and creates and develops new  courses for the classroom and on-line training.

Lane Miller is  the owner of Work Site Safety Inc. Lane has over 14 years of combined  experience in the Oil and Gas and Construction industries.  Safety is his life and passion.  He has spent the last 10 years helping to  develop policies, procedures, and training for employers and employees alike.  He has endeavored and made it his mission in life, to teach and lead them to an  understanding of how not to die, or become injured in the work place.  With his combined workplace experience,  enthusiasm, and skill sets, Lane illustrates safety to individuals, and communicates  it to them in a way they can all relate to. 

Scott Olson brings training and experience as an environmental consultant to his role as a tenured faculty member at Red Rocks Community College in environmental compliance. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, he first became involved with health and safety issues when he was an employee at the UCLA Medical Center. Mr. Olson’s professional affiliations include membership in the National Environmental Training Association.

Daniel (Dan) Rick
President of Mesa Oak Consulting, Inc., is a consultant, facilitator and trainer in leadership development, talent selection systems, and high performance work systems in both union and non-union environments.  His particular expertise lies in his ability to work with multiple levels of an organization’s leadership in designing and implementing strategic and effective work systems.  Dan has successfully established effective work systems, achieving desired business results, in organizations such as General Electric, Canadian Air Command, Allied Signal (Honeywell), Delta Air Lines, Flakeboard Company, Ltd., Miller Brewing Company, Ford Motor Company, Tomago Aluminum, Ltd., Ciba Vision, Coors Brewing Company and most recently Rocky Mountain Bottle Company.   Dan holds a BS in Education from Northern Illinois University, an MBA from Averett University, a Secondary Education Certificate, a Certificate in Lean Manufacturing from the University of Kentucky, and a Master Practitioner Certificate from the New York Training Institute for Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Dale Robinson 
is the owner of HR Safety  Consulting LLC. Dale has over 32 years of experience directly in the Oil &  Gas industry and holds several Professional Certificates in different disciplines.  Dale has been instructing with Rocky Mountain Education Center OSHA Training Institute  for 8 years. He has developed the Oil and Gas Safety and Standards Courses for HR  Safety Consulting, LLC, Rocky Mountain Education Center and OSHA. Along with  his extensive knowledge of the standards and his experience of the industries,  he has a reputation as one of the most well-known Occupational Safety and Health  Trainers and Consultants and provides his services throughout the USA and  overseas. He has won numerous awards for his professionalism in training and  life-saving skills.

Sam Whitney is the owner of 307Safety LLC a safety consulting and training  business. He has worked as a professional  safety person throughout Wyoming for over 35 years including 14 of those years with Wyoming  OSHA. Sam holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Safety and Environmental from  Columbia Southern University and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Wyoming Oil and Gas Industry Safety Alliance.
