RMHVAC 401 - Refrigeration Transition Planning

The Montreal Protocol, an international environmental agreement, established requirements that began the world wide phase-out of ozone depleting HCFC’s (hydrochlorofluorocarbons) by 2020. HCFC-22 (also known as R-22) has been the refrigerant of choice for residential and commercial air-conditioning systems for more than four decades and is predominantly the affected compound. R-22 is being phased out now. Owners need a plan now that defines which steps will be taken for each R-22 system. The owner need help planning at what time to convert or replace the equipment.
